We started of our pre-season with our “beloved” 2-mile run about 5-6 weeks ago. With 21 new guys and only 9 returners we are facing a tough year and with a handful guys in the hospital beds from day one our journey could have looked a bit easier.
Now we are here though, 5 games deep into our Fall 2010 season, with five straight wins and five shutouts and ranked number one in the nation.
Well alright, the ranking doesn’t mean anything until the season is over but recognition is always a moral boast for a young team like this year’s version of the Golden Eagles. So far the results look pretty good but we still have a lot to work on and we can’t rely on our defense scoring as many goals and keeping a shutout every game as they have so far.
Our first four conference games weren’t against the strongest team in our league but for the next two weeks we will be on the road playing against team that will be fighting for spots in the conference tournament. So it will a few very tough weeks ahead and now we will finally see how far we actually got with this “new” team.
This weekend we play Pomona and San Bernardino and the following weekend will be against Chico and Stanislaus.
Spending a lot of time on the road might mean that the “black mamba” once again will show up. Be aware, and don’t fall asleep!
